Fire victims who hired builders to rebuild their homes are not subject to the Right to Repair Act. Instead, their claims are based upon the common law, and require lawyers to be well-versed in contract, tort, and insurance law, as well as how a specific defect caused damage (which bears on insurance coverage and statute of limitations issues).
