Friday Nov. 1: Update on Court Closures Due to Wildfire and Power Outages

Amador County

-As of 10:00 this morning, the Amador Superior Courthouse has full power and functionality. Court Operations will proceed as usual.
-According to the PG&E Address Lookup tool website, the court is not expected to be in the next round of power-outages.


Calaveras County

-The San Andreas Courthouse is now open and fully operational.


El Dorado County 
-PG&E provided notification of potential power outage events scheduled to begin Saturday, October 26 to last through Friday, November 1. During these dates, the ONLY location changes are as follows:

-The Placerville Main Street Branch located at 495 Main Street, Placerville, CA 95667 will be closed to the public from Monday, October 28, 2019 through Friday, November 1, 2019.

• Department 1 and 2: Matters calendared Monday, October 28, 2019 through Friday, November 1, 2019 will be heard in Department 9 at the Cameron Park Branch located at 3321 Cameron Park Drive, Cameron Park, CA 95682.

• Department 5: Matters calendared Monday, October 28, 2019 through Friday, November 1, 2019 will be heard in the Hearing Room on the main level of Building C at 2850 Fairlane Court, Placerville, CA 95667.

• Self-Help Center: From Monday, October 28, 2019 through Friday, November 1, 2019 services will be provided at the Front Counter on the main level of Building C at 2850 Fairlane Court, Placerville, CA 95667.
NOTE: The above changes will remain in place even if the potential power outage is canceled or the power restoration occurs prior to Friday, November 1, 2019. The Court’s intent is to reduce confusion for the public, parties and partners. 


Humboldt County

(Update Thursday, Oct 31)

-Normal court services are expected to be available through the end of business on 10/29.  In the case of a power outage, the court will offer limited services.

-Power has been restored and normal court services have resumed.


Marin County 

-Power has been restored and normal court services have resumed.


Mendocino County

-Emergency Court Closure Due to Power Outage
-The Court was closed from October 28, 2019 through October 30, 2019 due to a Public Safety Power Shutoff. Any cases calendared on those days will be rescheduled. Any last-day filings that occurred on those days will be accepted without penalty. Please see the authority from the Chief Justice and order from Presiding Judge Ann Moorman, declaring the court closure days as judicial holidays in Mendocino County.

Nevada County

-Nevada City Courthouse is open and operational. 

-All Jurors summonded for Jury Duty October 29th or October 30th have been rescheduled to Thursday October 31st, see detailed reporting instructions below.

REVISED JUROR REPORTING INSTRUCTIONS FOR  10/29/19 - 10/30/19
- Jurors in groups 100, 101, and 300 originally summoned to appear on Tuesday, October 29 have been rescheduled to appear Thursday, October 31 at 8:30a.m.

 - Jurors in group “0” originally summoned to appear on Tuesday, October 29 have been rescheduled to appear Thursday, October 31 at 1:00p.m.

 - Jurors in group 100 originally summoned to appear on Wednesday, October 30  have been rescheduled to appear Thursday, October 31 at 8:30a.m.


Solano County

VALLEJO COURTHOUSE RE-OPENS WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2019

-Power has been restored to the Vallejo Courthouse and that location has been removed from the PG&E PSPS map. No outages are planned or expected for that location.

-Court operations for Departments 2, 15 and 21 and the Criminal/Traffic Clerk’s Office will resume normal operations starting Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at the Vallejo Courthouse.

-Department 7 will continue with jury selection for an on-going trial at the Fairfield Courthouse on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.


Sonoma County

Court Closure Thursday, October 31, 2019 and Friday, November 1, 2019.

-All locations of the Sonoma County Superior Court (the Court), with the exception of the Juvenile Justice Center will be closed for regular business tomorrow, Thursday, October 31, 2019 and Friday, November 1, 2019.

-All matters regularly heard at the Juvenile Justice Center (JJC) have resumed effective October 30, 2019.

-All jurors are excused from reporting on Thursday, October 31, 2019 and Friday,November 1, 2019.  All jurors should check the Court’s website on Friday November 1, 2019 or call 707-521–6640 after 5:00 p.m. for their Monday 4, 2019 reporting status.

-All hearings scheduled for  Thursday, October 31, 2019 and Friday, November 1, 2019 will be rescheduled for a later date.  The court will begin to mail notice of rescheduled hearings on Friday, November 1, 2019.

-During this closure, the Court is making arrangements to have all emergency ex parte applications and emergency requests for temporary restraining orders heard, starting at 10:00 a.m., at the Petaluma Courthouse located at 11 English Street in Petaluma.  The Petaluma Clerk’s Office will be staffed from 10:00 a.m.to 3:30 p.m.for these matters only. Please check this page for updates on where emergency matters will be heard. 

-All in-custody arraignments will go forward on Friday, November 1, 2019 in Department 9, at 1:30 PM.

-Court will open to the public on Monday, November 4, 2019 and will resume regular public service hours.    

All impaneled jurors will be called with instructions regarding when to appear. 

-Those subpoenaed to appear on Monday shall comply with the subpoena.

-Those summoned for jury service for the week of November 4, 2019 shall contact jury services at 707-521–6640.

Court users are advised to check this page regularly as plans could change.

-To contact the Court in the event of an emergency, call the Court info line at 707-521-6500. Information pertaining to Court operations will be continuously updated and provided via the Court website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Signage will be also be posted at all court locations.
