Secret Agents (for Change): Diversity in the Real Estate Profession
Friday, June 15, 7:30 am – 9:00 pm
Speaker:
Elaine Andersson—Of Counsel, Lubin Olsen & Niewiadomski LLP
The last time you attended a major commercial real estate industry event, how diverse were the participants? What difficulties have you or your clients experienced in attracting and/or retaining diverse professionals? What roadblocks do diverse professionals face in trying to advance their careers?
Understanding the issues is only the first step. The challenge is to identify, and implement, strategies that will actually effect change in our professional world. During our June 15 program, through lively discussion with your peers, you will identify ways that you can be the change you want to see.
About the Speaker: Elaine Andersson practices commercial real estate law in the Walnut Creek office of Lubin Olson Niewiadomski. Her focus is on representation of commercial property owners and corporate users in leasing and property management issues, where her expertise in ‘how things actually work’ enables her to anticipate, avoid or solve problems for her clients. Throughout her career, including as an officer of two publicly traded REITs, and as a law professor at U.C. Hastings and Golden Gate University, she has taken leadership positions with commercial real estate industry groups and worked to increase inclusiveness. Elaine’s research on diversity in the commercial real estate industry has been quoted in publications including the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times, and she has been a featured speaker on diversity or real estate law for numerous legal and real estate groups, including the California State Bar Annual Meeting, California Real Property Law Retreat, and Commercial Real Estate Women’s California conference.
