A timely discussion on the work, progress, and issues being raised by #MeToo; what policy reforms the movement has led to or raised questions about; and who is being left out of the current conversation. Please join us for a fascinating panel discussion with Jennifer Reisch, Legal Director of Equal Rights Advocates (ERA) who will review current legislation promoted by the ERA targeting gender discrimination in the workplace. Joining Ms. Reisch will be panelist, Bernice Yeung, a Reporter for Reveal who has investigated and written about hostile workplace issues involving immigrant and underrepresented women. Ms. Yeung is the author of In a Day's Work: The Fight to End Sexual Violence Against America's Most Vulnerable Workers (The New Press, 2018)

Jennifer Reisch
Legal Director of Equal Rights Advocates
Jennifer Reisch has devoted her legal career to advocating for under-represented individuals and communities. Jennifer became the Legal Director of Equal Rights Advocates in September 2012, assuming responsibility for directing Equal Rights Advocates' efforts to seek equality and justice for women and girls in schools and workplaces across the country. She manages a team of dedicated attorneys, law fellows, and law clerks who make an impact through litigation and direct legal services, bold policy reform initiatives, and innovative community education and outreach campaigns.
Jennifer is proud to have helped pass the strongest equal pay law in the nation, the California Fair Pay Act of 2015 (SB 358 – Jackson), and been part of the team representing Betty Dukes and other women in their history-making case against Wal-Mart. Jennifer has served as lead counsel in dozens of cases brought on behalf of women workers, including Aviles v. BAE Systems Norfolk Ship Repair, a Title VII class action sex discrimination suit which resulted in a $4.6 million settlement and significant policy changes designed to prevent harassment, discrimination, and retaliation against women working in a highly male-dominated industry.
As a leader in the field of workers’ rights and employment litigation, Jennifer has received numerous honors for her work and frequently is invited to speak on these topics. In 2015 and 2016, she was named one of the Top 75 Labor & Employment Lawyers in California by the Daily Journal. Super Lawyers magazine recognized her as a Rising Star among plaintiff-side employment litigators each year from 2009-2012.
Bernice Yeung
Reporter for Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting
Bernice Yeung is a reporter for Reveal from The Center for Investigative Reporting, covering race and gender. Her work examines issues related to violence against women, labor and employment, immigration and environmental health. Yeung was part of the national Emmy-nominated Rape in the Fields reporting team, which investigated the sexual assault of immigrant farmworkers. The project won an Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Award and a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award and was a finalist for the Goldsmith Prize for Investigative Reporting. She was also the lead reporter for the national Emmy-nominated Rape on the Night Shift team, which examined sexual violence against female janitors. That work won an IRE Award, the Society of Professional Journalists Sigma Delta Chi Award for investigative journalism, and the Third Coast/Richard H. Driehaus Competition.
Those projects led to her first book, In a Day's Work: The Fight to End Sexual Violence Against America's Most Vulnerable Workers (The New Press 2018).
A former staff writer for SF Weekly and editor at California Lawyer magazine, Yeung has had her work appear in a variety of media outlets, including The New York Times, The Seattle Times, The Guardian and PBS Frontline. She has a bachelor's degree in journalism from Northwestern University and a master's degree from Fordham University, where she studied sociology with a focus on crime and justice. In 2015-2016, she was a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan where she explored ways that journalists can use social science survey methods in their reporting. Yeung is based in Reveal's Emeryville, California, office.
