Join us on April 4 for a discussion on the political climate in Mexico, its impact on relations with the U.S. and on human rights conditions, and considerations for those with business interests in Mexico. With national elections scheduled for July 2018 and a leftist populist candidate in the lead, what will the outcome mean for NAFTA, “the wall,” immigration, and the country’s human rights situation, which has seen a record-high level of violence and killings of journalists in recent years? What are the considerations for companies doing business in Mexico? We will hear from a Mexico City-based panelist with expertise in human rights, international law and corporate social responsibility and Clara Long, Senior Researcher in Human Rights Watch’s U.S. Program, will share insights on policies and practices affecting human rights at the border.
