The Adult Entertainment Industry, Marijuana Growers, “GIG” Economy! Karen Tynan, who has spent nearly a decade advising and defending clients in the adult entertainment industry, kicks off the L & E section’s focus in 2018 on the compliance challenges in our changing workforce in Non-Traditional Workplaces. Join her in a lively and informative session about broadening our perceptions as well as our practices in this niche industry, particularly in light of renewed interest in sexual harassment claims in the entertainment industry.

Ms. Tynan is a California attorney practicing in the areas of employment law and regulatory law, regularly advising and defending California employers and companies in civil, administrative, and regulatory matters. Services her firm offers range from defending wage and hour claims, defending discrimination suits, in-house sexual harassment training, compliance, and crisis management. Prior to law school and legal practice, Ms. Tynan spent ten years sailing as an officer in the merchant marine, rising from third officer to chief officer during her career. These years of sailing the Pacific routes on a tanker, from Alaska to Mexico and Hawaii, provide not only interesting sea stories, but a broad knowledge of life, labor practices, engineering, and safety protocols.
