Highlights of the past year’s key developments in California insurance law
Our panel of experienced insurance lawyers will address key developments in California insurance law during 2017. Whether you practice insurance coverage law, do insurance defense work, are a plaintiff’s lawyer where insurance may be in play, or practice in-house, this longstanding annual program will bring you up to speed on the most significant insurance issues that could make the difference between winning and losing, and can help you avoid missteps that could cause policyholder clients to lose insurance, or could cost your insurance company clients greatly. The speakers will discuss the conflict between two 2017 appellate cases on horizontal versus vertical exhaustion, how the Supreme Court may address the recurring question of “what is an accident,” when the genuine dispute doctrine does (and does not) shield insurers from bad faith, an excess insurer’s “duty to settle” (and risks of not settling) when the insured and primary insurer want to settle, key construction insurance exclusions, and much more.
