Genetic testing, artificial reproductive technologies, surrogacy, competing legal presumptions, same-sex marriage and partnerships, voluntary declarations of paternity, blended families, serial monogamy, polyamorous, and open relationships - these and other developments in what is socially acknowledged and accepted over the past 50 years may make parentage law seem like Father Knows Best meets reality show meets game show. [See flyer for additional information.]
About the Speaker: Terry Symens-Bucher serves as Supervising Attorney for the Alameda County Department of Child Support Services (ACDCSS), which is charged under Title IV-D of the Social Security Act, ACDCSS with establishing legal parentage within Alameda County.
