Renowned employment defense attorney Anthony J. Oncidi of Proskauer Rose LLP and prominent employment plaintiff lawyer Andrew H. Friedman of Helmer Friedman LLP have agreed to again present their annual lively and fast-paced discussion about all of the significant new developments in employment law from the courts and legislature. Features this year will include (1) brand new California legislation “Banning the Box,” restricting salary history inquiries, expanding required harassment training, and enhancing the DLSE's power to prosecute retaliation claims; (2) Zetwick v. County of Yolo (holding that hugging can create a hostile work environment); (3) Ly v. Cty. of Fresno (holding that a workers' compensation decision may bar a FEHA claim); and (4) Jameson v. Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (holding that an employer's reliance on a good faith investigation can defeat a wrongful termination claim). And, registration includes a copy of their annual summary of new cases and laws (a document that, alone, is worth the price of admission).
Andrew and Tony have been presenting the Annual Employment Law Update for numerous bar associations throughout California for more than 10 years -- and this year, they have their work cut out for them, as they help us navigate through the many new state and federal employment laws, regulations and cases.
