California Attorney General Xavier Becerra
October 25, 2018: 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm
MCLE Credits - 1 H

This annual lecture and interview series honors the memory of Sandy Svetcov, who was a pillar of the California Bar for forty years. Each year, we ask a leading member of the judiciary or bar to come speak and answer questions on aspects and features of modern law, practice, and policy.
Speaker
XAVIER BECERRA
Attorney General of California
During one of the most turbulent political and legal times in recent memory, California Attorney General Xavier Becerra is leading some of the most significant cases against the Trump administration – more than 30 lawsuits to date, from the Travel Ban, to border family separations, to the environment, to the census, to regulations on guns, and many more. That’s not to mention all the other litigation the office oversees, from criminal to regulatory to consumer interest.
Discussion topics for this conversation will include: the work of the Attorney General, the role of law in society, his approach to the Constitution, his personal background, his priorities for the future, and more. Time will be allotted for audience questions.
