This is a seminar for every litigator to learn about the importance of thinking about insurance coverage early in a case -- for a plaintiff to make sure they can get paid despite a judgment-proof defendant and for a defendant to make sure someone else foots the bill in case of liability. We will also address issues that may arise during the litigation, including the insurer's reservation of rights, the duty to defend/indemnify and privilege concerns.
Topics
• Types of insurance policies and what they cover
• How to get claims covered (as a plaintiff or a defendant) and what to do if they're denied
• Notifying and communicating with the insurer, including privilege issues
